LATEST NEWS
From the President

Welcome to season 2013! I would like to take this opportunity to welcome back our families from last year and welcome all new families to the club.

My name is David Tilker and I am the incoming president this year. I have been involved with CJFC for 5 years now during which time I coached and have also been an active member of the general committee. I am very much looking forward to my presidency this year working closely with the committee and also coaches and parents to make our club the best it can be.

This year we are fielding 11 teams as well as our Auskick program. So we have around about 280 participants every weekend representing our great club. I would like to remind everyone that we are here for the kids to enjoy their training and games. POSITIVE words have more of an impact with our kids.

Katrina will be back in the canteen this year, so we’d like to welcome her back and thank her for the amazing amount of time and energy she and her helpers put in to keeping the canteen running. It’s quite a job feeding the hungry masses of boys after their footy games finish. Also, Chris our super coffee man is back at his post this year. Please enjoy a cup of his coffee, it’s top quality and just the thing to combat those cold Barngy mornings. Let Grandparents, Uncles, Aunties and visiting friends know that they are encouraged to buy their coffees or hot chocolates etc. from Chris as every cup sold puts money back into our great club. So you get to enjoy a high quality beverage and sup- port Chris while he supports us in turn with his very generous ‘per cup’ kick back to us. This season we encourage you to like our Facebook page. The page is updated regularly with news from around the club or any special events that are happening, so it’s a great way to keep up with any info. You can also send a message to us via this page. Also this sea- son we will be including an Auskick report in our newsletters. Auskick is such a wonderful environment for kids to develop their skills and a love of our game and I definitely encourage any of our players who find themselves with some free time on a Friday evening to ask Mum or Dad to drop you down at Barngy to get involved with our Auskick kids. Mark Wilson is our co-ordinator this year and he’s very eager to have the older kids involved so the younger kids can have something to aspire to.

As you will see when you’re at Barngeong next, our extension to our club rooms is on the way. There will be a few inconveniences this year due to the ongoing works, but we will try to keep these as minor as possible so please be patient while this is all happening. Please read Matt Volk’s update in the pre-season newsletter to find out all of the great plans for our home ground.

Club social nights are a great way to catch up with and meet parents and players from other teams. Easy year we run four club social nights where coaches hand out player awards from the previous rounds and everyone catches up for dinner and a chat. These ‘Back to Hewish’ nights have been planned for rounds 2, 6, 10 & 14. Please make an effort to get there and support the club and the kids.

I’d like to take moment and mention our sponsors for this season, some of them have been with us for several years now and others are new to CJFC. Old and new, we value our relationships with our sponsors and encourage you to support these businesses whenever possible. The following companies help us to provide the wonderful training programs and equipment needed and we thank them for their valued contributions:

  • VETTA Pasta
  • Bendigo Bank Mooroolbark
  • Burdens Bathrooms
  • Ace trees
  • MGD Plumbing
  • Amart Sports (Chirnside)
  • Stockdale & Leggo (Croydon)

  • It is really important that we get behind our sponsors and mention where you’re from so they get feedback that we are supporting them, supporting us.

    Dave Tilker.
